About the Event

Ken was an elementary teacher in Montrose, Olathe and Delta schools for ten years, primarily teaching music.  He also conducted college-level choirs while obtaining his Master's degree at Portland State University.

Ken had a wide range of expertise as a musician.  He was a singer and song-writer, and many of his compositions have been professionally recorded.  Ken ran sound for hundreds of live performances, large and small.  He played in several bands in the Portland, OR area as well as local bands around Montrose including Ghost River in the 1990’s, Ulterior Motive, and most recently, Crazy Like a Fox.

Some highlights of his career include performing with a band on the American Queen riverboat out of New Orleans, LA and playing the lead role of Prince Karl in the opera “The Student Prince”, which was one of the first productions at the Montrose Pavilion.  In addition, Ken co-wrote a song that was a top-12 finalist for use at the Olympic Games, and he was among the opening acts for Leann Rimes at the Olathe Sweet Corn Festival in 2007.  Also, as a member of the band "Jason Snell and the Last Ride", he had the privilege of opening for Alabama at the Rose Garden Arena in Portland, OR.

Ken was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
